Team Orr Defeats Team Cherry for 6 Straight Wins

Team Orr came out with their 6th straight win in the 21st annual CHL Top Prospects game with a 3-2 victory over Team Cherry. Although Team Cherry did not get the win, OHL players shined as Windsor Spitfires’ forward Logan Brown netted a goal. Jordan Kyrou of the Sarnia Sting picked up 2 assists on the night as well as Max Jones of the London Knights picking up an assist. To add to the impressive showing of OHL talent, goaltender Dylan Wells of the Peterborough Petes put on a stellar performance stopping ¬†19 of 20 shots that came his way in just half the game. It was a great game for the scouts to get a good look at the top 2016 NHL draft prospects as well as it was for the players themselves to show off their talent and prove why they were chosen to play in this game. 2016 Playoffs Looking to Stay South of the Border

As we pass the half way point in the season, the hopes of having playoff hockey in Canada for the 2016 season are dying down. All 7 Canadian NHL teams are currently sitting out of a playoff position and by the looks of it, none of those teams will be pulling off a late season playoff push. After the leafs hiring Babcock, the Oilers drafting the 18-year-old phenom, Connor Mcdavid, and the Canadiens kicking off the season with a 9 game winning streak, this is certainly not what Canadian hockey fans were expecting. Ever since Canadiens goaltender Carey Price has been injured, the Montreal Canadians haven’t looked so promising as they have dropped from first place, to now being outside of a playoff position. Konecny shines in Sting debut

After coming home from a disappointing WJC tournament with team Canada, 67’s forward Travis Konecny was shocked to hear the news he has been traded to the Sarnia Sting. ¬†Konecny was selected first overall by the 67’s in the 2013 OHL draft and was expected to stay with the team throughout his whole junior career. Once he heard the news, Konecny packed his bag and hit the road to make it down to Sarnia for their Friday night game against the Owen Sound Attack where he would ensure the Sting they won’t regret making the trade as he netted a hat-trick in his very game with the Sting. Konecny brings a huge offensive presence to the game which will help the Sting with the long playoff run they are hoping for in the upcoming playoffs.
